Biofuel
In July of 2007, Allied Waste Services of Idaho completed the full conversion of our garbage hauling and recycling fleet to biodiesel fuel. This conversion was the culmination of an incremental approach that began five years ago - one that we've pursued deliberately and methodically to ensure cost effectiveness for taxpayers and environmental benefits for the community.
The conversion makes us one of the largest users of B20 biodiesel in Idaho and reduces the company's local carbon emissions by more than 2.2 million pounds each year - the equivalent of taking more than 210 cars off Treasure Valley roadways annually. With our full fleet conversion, we've replaced some 50,000 gallons of ultra-low sulfur petroleum diesel each month with clean-burning alternative fuel produced from renewable resources.
Allied Waste is a proud member of the Treasure Valley Clean Cities Coalition.
