Standard service includes one 95-gallon gray trash cart and one 95-gallon blue recycling cart for every household.  The 95-gallon carts are equivalent to three standard trash cans.  Residents may order 65-gallon carts (equivalent to two standard trash cans) via phone (327-8015) or online, 24-hours per day, 7 days a week through October 18, 2009.  The carts will be delivered throughout November and December and residents will be notified via mail the week before their carts arrive.

Current rates will not change under the new program. However, those who were previously renting trash carts may see a savings since the first cart will now be included with regular trash service.

Trash service will remain unlimited, but residents are encouraged to fill the carts first, before setting additional materials out at the curb.

The new carts will improve neighborhood appearance, block rainwater, contain odors, and prevent animal tampering. Automated collection will help Allied Waste increase productivity, safety and efficiency, all of which will help stabilize long-term rates.

"Customers utilizing blue carts for "no-sort" recycling in neighboring cities have been pleased with the new program and we expect to see the same reception in the county," said Rachele Klein, Business Development Manager for Allied Waste. "The same materials currently collected at the curb can be mixed together in the blue carts."

Other service enhancements in the new contract include: curbside collection of fall leaves and Christmas trees, and new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) trucks.
